IN THE LAPS OF MEMORIES -THE JOURNEY OF MY COLLEGE DAYS.

             IN THE LAPS OF MEMORIES
-THE JOURNEY OF MY COLLEGE DAYS
Life is a beautiful journey in which some paths merge and diverge at some point of time.As life passes by like a soft, cool breeze, memorable moments and memories keep life alive. As it unfolds itself, new persons and experiences enlighten this journey and as time flies, they become an integral part of it.Right from the stage of being an innocent kid, friends begin to expand your space called family by becoming a part of it and from then on,it only keeps on growing.Of the many stages that are part of this beautiful journey, college life holds a special place in our hearts.
The journey of my college life took birth in the year 2012.Standing at the crossroads of dilemma, wondering about the path to choose, and not getting carried away by the engineering mania, we chose to become science graduates and so that laid the foundation for what would turn out to be a beautiful phase of 3 years at Gayatri Vidya Parishad.Putting on the uniform with a feel of excitement,I found myself enclosed in a classroom surrounded by total strangers, who were unimagined of till then.Days began to scamper and the strangeness slowly began to fade away as we got to know each other.I realised that there were some girls in the class that I am in,which happened for the first time and as predictable, my eyes, often, steered my attention towards the beautiful creation of god.Classes, teachers and the never ending seminars made it look like a stereotypical thing but it didn't take long before we began to skip a few classes to imitate our cricket stars on the fields.Very soon, internal exams and practical exams got us busy and in no time, the monsters called semester exams devilishly smiled at us.After having fought hard with them, we realised that we had already gone through the first phase of our first year and after a bit of gap,the second semester got kick started.Looking out of the windows unable to understand what was taught in the classes, stealing a couple of glances at girls and skipping a few more classes became a routine of the second semester and the first year became a part of our history in the wink of an eye.
After a phase of a month and a half of holidays, all roads led to our college as we became seniors and it was time for us to welcome our juniors with a spice of college life.No sooner did we begin to savour our second year than the prevailing political conditions played spoilsport in our college life for about a couple of months as we were restricted to our houses, thanks to the political conditions.God knows how we wrote the exams thereafter! The second semester of the second year was no different if not for the fact that we turned out even naughtier cracking jokes in classrooms, hanging out more on the fields and at beaches, chasing the teachers to get our records signed and not to forget, the last minute preparations for exams and of course the funny answers we used to give during viva-voce.On the other hand, various competitions graced our excellence in various fields and cultural programs like farewell day for our seniors and the annual day saw fun breaking through all the limits.
The first semester of the third and the final year began making us aware of the fact that we will be going through litmus tests called the 'campus placements' to make it into the reputed companies about which we only hear of in the television sets and internet. As time melted off,the big days of campus placements challenged us and some of us proved our mettle to find a way to become a part of the giants of the IT sector. Then arrived the final semester of the final year.I will call it the most memorable phase of our college lives. Realising that they were the last few months that we would be spending together, we hung out at beaches and parks often and our conversations with girls got prolonged and the barriers called shyness got demolished.Birthday celebrations springed in every now and then and we didn't need any reasons to rejoice the time that we spent together.
All of a sudden, the calendar displayed the date to be the 7th of March,2015 and it was our farewell day! Some of us were like "Oh my god! Is it true that we have spent three years in the college already?" and going past the amusement,we got set for an enthralling farewell and what followed thereafter was an evening that will remain etched in our hearts for long.Excitement, fun and celebrations went to the peak stage as we shouted, danced, rejoiced and posed for hundreds of pictures with our friends and it was an evening that we will cherish for long.Practical exams and the theory exams got us busy for one last time during our college days and all sorts of emotions broke free as we hung out at the beach after the last exam.Priceless hugs marked the occasion and invaluable tears rolled down as darkness set in on the last day of our college lives and that made us realise the kind of affection that we have for each other.
Now as we look back at the three years that we have spent together, we realise that we have spent a portion of our lives in the most memorable way possible and we have got into a relationship that will last a lifetime. At this juncture, I get reminded of what an Indian author, Ravinder Singh, said,"Don't cry because it is over.Instead, smile because it had happened."
So, as I sit back gazing at the vacuum, recalling all the beautiful memories of our college life, and as I wonder whether to cry as our college life has come to an end or to smile for the endless and the priceless memories that it has given us, my heart said,

                        "I WILL CHOOSE THE LATTER."
